Ischaemia Modified Albumin- An Indicator of Widespread Endothelial Damage in Diabetes Mellitus
Hyperglycaemia in Type 2 Diabetes mellitus has been implicated in the pathogenesis and progression of the disease process with micro vascular complications as per various researches. Generation of free radicals with oxidative stress and associated ischemia leading to endothelial damage and subsequent inflammation, results in long term complications like retinopathy, neuropathy and nephropathy in type 2 Diabetes mellitus. A positive association of increased level of oxidative stress markers like Malondialdehyde (MDA) has been detected in Diabetes associated with complications.
