COVID-19 and Arising Mental Health Problems in India

COVID-19 pandemic can be regarded as a mental health catastrophe. It has given rise to psychiatric problems like anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder. COVID-19 has aggravated pre-existing psychiatric problems, particularly the elderly people are more prone. Stigma faced by the people with COVID-19, their contacts and health care providers is acting as a barrier to provide the adequate and quality of services. The aftermath of psychiatric manifestations due to COVID-19 is a huge problem for developing countries. Currently, management and early preventive measures need to be taken vigorously.
