Radiation oncology is that branch of radiology which deals with utilization of high energy radiations to treat the malignant or sometimes even benign form of carcinoma. Utilization of ionising radiations like (external beam radiations, internal radiations therapy) External beam radiations uses high energy x-rays or gamma rays with high proton energy levels are used to destroy the cancerous tissues. Internal radiation therapy, a radioactive substance is placed near to the affected tissues, or sometimes these radiotracers are injected intravenously to treat the cancer.
