How Mathematics and Music Are Related

Demetriou P*, Yenovkian C, Papacharalambous A and Janjic J

Music specialists, theorists and those who are engaged in music sometimes use mathematics to understand music. Mathematics and Music are usually organized into two separate categories, without obvious overlap. It tends to be that people are good at math or science and music that compare if these two elements could be placed together logically. In reality, mathematics and music are indeed related and we commonly use numbers and mathematics to describe music. But for us, music is a field of study that has an obvious relationship to mathematics. We searched about this relationship and discovered that many are saying that mathematics is "the basis of music" so if a person does not know mathematics, then it will be difficult to understand to read and write music. In order to read music you have to know the basics for example the notes, the subdivisions of the notes which basically are fractions, the time signature, rests and the beat which more or less you have to use your simple mathematical logic. The Fibonacci sequence is also present in the creation of the piano as well as the scales and the notes.
