Electrochemical Studies of Vitamin K3 and Its Interaction with Human Serum Albumin Using a Carbon Nanoparticles- Modified Electrode

The electrochemical behavior of vitamin K3 on a carbon nanoparticles-modified glassy carbon electrode surface and its interaction with human serum albumin were investigated. The results showed that vitamin K3 is reduced in a two-electron step. The diffusion coefficients of vitamin K3 was determined. Also, the heterogeneous electron transfer rate constant and charge transfer coefficient were evaluated using cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy and steady-state polarization measurements. Upon addition of human serum albumin to the vitamin K3 solution, both the cathodic and anodic peak currents were decreased; however, binding vitamin K3 to human serum albumin formed an electroreactive species. The percentage of interaction of vitamin K3 with protein was addressed.
